We have to admit we ADORE the IDEA of Burning Man, the annual arty farty/hippy dippy/faggy waggy art commune that happens out in the Nevadan desert every Labor Day Weekend. It sounds like magical fun. And, we’d LOVE to go…for a day or so. Any longer away from real beds, running water and access to civilization would make our heads explode. But, you really can’t go to BM just for a day, so we have to be satisfied with hearing people talk about it and/or experiencing it through the media.
Meet the GlamCocks – Official Trailer from Wallaby Way on Vimeo.
One nifty way to really experience the hedonistic yet artistic joys of BM is to see it on film. And, some enterprising filmmakers have made a new documentary called “Meet The GlamCocks” that focuses specifically on a gay tribe of Burners and their experiences creating a one of kind fantasyland dance club in the middle of a Nevadan playa.
The GlamCocks will be offering Seattle a chance to sneek peek a look at the film with a special screening at The Baltic Room this Thursday, August 15 from 7:30pm to 9pm. All funds raised will go to support the GlamCocks and afterwards, you can stay for REVOLUTION at The Baltic. DJ Skiddle and DonnaTella Howe will be your hosts for the event. Here’s more poo for ya:
Imagine a bunch of sexy boys wearing loin cloths and covered in dust and sweat as they build a one of a kind dance club in a magical city that exists for only a week…
The annual Burning Man festival is one of the most infamous gatherings in the world. The GlamCocks are one of 600 camps that form to run the city…and certainly one of the gayest. This heart-warming documentary follows the group setting up camp, building their structures and exploring the art (not to mention each other). From wild parties to life-affirming experiences, “Meet The GlamCocks” gives you an insider’s view into a week at the world’s most epic festival.
“Meet the Glamcocks” has been selected for Film Festivals in Vancouver, Sydney, Toronto, and New Zealand. Let’s give it the Seattle welcome it deserves! DonnaTella Howe and DJ Skiddle (from c89.5’s ‘Drive@5’) will be hosting a private screening of this film at The Baltic Room before its release in LGBT Film Festivals around the world. An after-party will follow the show hosted by the team at Revolution Thursdays at the Baltic Room. 100% of your cover charge will go directly to support the GlamCocks camp and their epic sunset parties they throw in the middle of the Playa.
