Celebrate Asia
May 12, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Grammy® and Academy Award® winning film composer A.R. Rahman’s first-ever work for orchestra, “The Flying Lotus,” will be the highlight of the Seattle Symphony’s ninth annual Celebrate Asia concert at Benaroya Hall. Plus, hear music from his most soaring film score, “Slumdog Millionaire,” and from the Toronto and West End hit musical, “Lord of the Rings.”
The program will also feature gorgeous film music from several noted Japanese composers, including Toru Takemitsu’s score for the film “Lantern Festival of the Waves.”
Celebrate Asia is a spectacular display of Seattle’s vibrant Asian communities. Featuring dancers, drummers and entertainers in traditional dress both before and after the concert itself. Join us for this once a year opportunity to revel in the rich cultural traditions from across Asia.
