Cinema Dissection: The Third Man with Sean Axmaker
January 21, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Third Man can be found on most reputable filmmaker’s lists of greatest films. A twisting narrative, exceptional post-war Vienna cinematography, that unique zither film score, pitch-perfect acting, and iconic moments galore are just the tip of the iceberg when looking deeper at the pleasures of Carol Reed’s classic. Film critic Sean Axmaker brings his noir-heavy expertise to our six hour excavation of 1948 Vienna to uncover deeper truths about what makes The Third Man one of the greatest films ever made.

About Cinema Dissection
Cinema Dissection affords film lovers an exciting opportunity to dig deeper into the films that they love. Inspired by Roger Ebert’s annual Cinema Interruptus in Boulder, CO, attendees will participate with a facilitator in a six hour scene-by-scene, and sometimes shot-by-shot, deconstruction of the featured film. While the facilitator will certainly share their thoughts, anyone in the audience may call out ‘Stop’ and either ask a question of the group or make an observation around a certain shot or moment in the film.
