Ok so I have been doing a little action in South Lake Union for the last year or so. I work in the area and as I walk to and from work, I have my headphones on listening to music and I will sing out as loud and proud as I please. It’s silly and pointless but it’s my little protest against what has happened to the area. A remembrance of the art scene that used to exist here. The housing that people used to be able to afford. I want to organize a little flashmob that’s gonna go like this. I get off work at 6pm. When I am leaving work, I would love it if hundreds of people, all wearing headphones and singing along to whatever songs they love, met me on the SLUT tracks. En mass we walk together and sing and it ends with a dance party on the greens in front of MOHAI. I’m not gonna ask for permission so it will happen, we dance a couple songs then we all return to our lives. Everyone is welcome. No need to be a great singer. Children are welcome. I do need help with logistics so hit me up if you want to volunteer. I am especially interested in making sure that communities of color are invited as well as members of the homeless community. Donations of any music player and headphones for those who might not have them would be great. More to come but I want to get this ball rolling. Join me.
