Gender Between Generations
June 30, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Although our experiences and the words we use to describe ourselves may vary, genders beyond the binary exist across generations. Our experiences of childhood, growing up, and aging are individual. This community storytelling forum will provide a space for participants of all ages to imagine together what a childhood or adulthood divorced from the gender binary could look like, and what steps we can take now to support one another as an intergenerational, intentional, vibrant community.
This event will be in three parts: Show & Tell, Panel Discussion and Storytelling.
Show & Tell: Attendees are encouraged to bring an (all-ages appropriate) item with them to share with the group that tells a story about their experience with gender. Recommended for all ages. Young children and families are especially encouraged to participate.
Panel Discussion: A conversation between panelists of a wide spectrum of ages and life experiences, followed by an audience Q&A. Recommended for ages 10 and up.
Storytelling: A mini open-mic and storytelling event. Stories should be no longer than 5 minutes. Please e-mail chelsea@enbycollective.org if you would like to pre-register. Recommended for ages 14 and up.
Accessibility: There are two single-stall all gender restrooms at this library location, one on each floor. The meeting room is located in the basement of the library. There is wheelchair access from the street (4th Ave.) directly into the meeting room.
