King County Street Outreach Workers Workgroup
October 8, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
HEYO (Health Education Youth Outreach), the youth program at Lifelong, would like to invite your to our next King County Street Outreach Workers workgroup meeting on Thursday, October 7 from 530PM-7PM at the HEYO Youth Space (1161 11th Ave). HEYO’s street outreach team recognizes the value in bringing together fellow youth and young adult street outreach workers around King County. We know that outreach work can sometimes feel isolating within agencies. In creating a reoccurring monthly workgroup where we can find support from others doing similar work and explore ways in which we can all strategically approach outreach within our organizations, we believe we can better meet the needs of the homeless and unstably housed young people we work with.
We hope to see these meetings as a space to: share data/observations on trends (ie: locations, ages, substance use, needs/asks, interactions with police, etc), address visible gaps and areas of overlap/potential collaboration, and brainstorm/soundboard project ideas. The mission and direction of this group, however, will be flexible and a more cohesive mission/goals will be developed collaboratively by those present at future meetings.
Please invite any community members or agency staff interested in the outreach component of our work!
