Monkey Pox Vaccination Clinics
October 22, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Monkey Pox cases have dramatically fallen in the last few weeks but there is still concern for those most susceptible to the outbreak of the virus that has primarily affected men who have sex with other men. Though Monkey Pox is not a sexually transmitted disease (meaning the disease isn’t actually spread via semen) it is spread by being in close contact with the sores/pustules that occur with monkey pox. The 2022 outbreak of the disease which is normally a health concern in equatorial regions of the world was introduced into the men who have sex with men community last spring. Since then, there’s been a concentrated effort to get the word out to that community to get vaccinated against monkey pox, which is seldom fatal but can make victims quite ill and leave permanent scarring from the sores.
Though many Seattle/King County area gay and bisexual men have already been vaccinated, Public Health of King County/Seattle is still diligent in efforts to end the outbreak. For that reason, they will be hosting TWO Monkey Pox vaccination clinics this Saturday, October 22nd.
The first clinic will take place at The Comeback, 1950 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134 from 11 am to 2pm.
The 2nd clinic will take place in West Seattle at Arthur’s Cafe by The Admiral Pub, 2311 California Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98116 from 7pm to 10pm.
If you unable to attend either of these events and still desire the vaccination, go to the We Are One website for lists of other vaccine providers in the area: https://www.we-are-1.com/monkeypox
