Moving Through Grief: A Group for Gay Men
October 15, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Given the shame and trauma that were part of the cultural air we breathed as gay boys growing up – and that continue to be part of our cultural context, some amazing advances notwithstanding — gay men have a particular and complex experience of and relationship to grief. This series will create a safe space for gay/queer men to explore and reflect upon the impact of various levels of grief in our lives.
Each session will include a reading (in advance), small group process, large group conversation, and a ritual element. We will draw from Alan Downs’ The Velvet Rage as well as Francis Weller’s The Wild Edge of Sorrow.
For the sake of the continuity of the conversation and a sense of safety within the group, we ask that all participants commit to attending all three sessions. Registration is limited to 15, so don’t hesitate if this is something you’d be interested in.
Meets Saturdays October 15th, October 29th and November 12th. 1 to 4pm. We request that you attend all 3 meetngs.
Suggested donation: $20 per session.
