Tuesday, April 18 is National Transgender HIV Testing Day (NTHTD), an observance designed to recognize the importance of routine HIV testing, status awareness and continued focus on HIV prevention and treatment efforts among transgender people. The observance is organized by the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health.
In the United States, it is estimated that around 1.4 million adults identify as transgender. Transgender women are at high risk of having HIV and of contracting HIV. Transgender women of color, especially black/African American and Hispanic/Latina women, experience disproportionately high rates of HIV. There is a gap in research on HIV and transgender men; few studies have gathered HIV prevalence data for this population.
Please refrain from wearing scents. Here is a page on how and why to be scent free.
Youngstown Cultural Center is on the 120 & 125 line. It is a ADA building but the entrance situation is a bit complicated. All of the doors are manual. There is a ramp in the front of the building and a lift or it is possible to enter from the back and bypass the ramp and lift. There are 8 stairs up to the main door where the ramp is and three steps were the lift is. The side parking lot entrance has no barriers except a small ramp inside the building. We are in the South Classroom.
