Noir City 2018 – Opening Night
February 16, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The Czar of Noir, Eddie Muller, takes a break from hosting TCM’s Noir Alley to guide Seattle audiences on a journey through Film Noir.
On Opening Night the Egyptian will be transformed into a haven for gangsters, molls, vixens, and villains, with Noir-themed wine and a shadowy cityscape photo booth to capture patrons at their sinister best. Our opening night film, John Huston’s THE MALTESE FALCON will be preceded by a performance from Casey MacGill from 6:30 – 7:30, and a scintillating intro from Eddie Muller.
Film synopsis: “The stuff that dreams are made of.” Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart), a cynical, tough-talking private eye, becomes ensnared in a web of deceit when a simple missing persons case becomes a deadly hunt for a missing statuette. John Huston’s 1941 directorial debut became the prototype for the Film Noir genre, and Bogart’s performance as Spade made him a household name. With legendary performances from Mary Astor, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, and Elisha Cook Jr.
