A: April 29, 2017, the same day bookstores across the country will be celebrating Independent Bookstore Day.

Q: Where do I get a passport?
A: You can pick up a passport on April 29 at whichever bookstore you visit first. Some stores may have passports available in the days leading up to Seattle Bookstore Day, if you want to get a head start in planning your route.

Q: What do I get if I visit three stores and get my passport stamped?
A: Turn your passport into the last store you visit and you will be entered to win bookstore gift cards (make sure your contact information is written clearly on your passport so we can contact you if you win!). Please note that in order to be entered into the drawing you need to visit three different stores (two locations of the same store do not count). For instance, if you get stamps at Third Place Books Ravenna and Third Place Books Seward Park that would only count as one store. The stores with multiple locations include Liberty Bay Books, Third Place Books, and University Book Store.

Q: What do I win if I visit all 19 stores, get my passport stamped, and complete the bookstore day challenge?
A: You will receive a champion card good for 25 percent off purchases at all the stores listed (some restrictions may apply, depending on the store). You may continue to use this card through Seattle Bookstore Day 2018!

Q: How do I get my champion card?
A: Champion cards will be awarded at a party this spring (details T.B.D.). Be sure to include your contact information on your passport when you turn it in and we will contact champions as plans solidify.

Q: Do I have to visit ALL locations of the stores listed above for the bookstore challenge?
A: Good question! No, for stores with more than one location (for example, Third Place Books) you only need to get your passport stamped at ONE of the locations. You will see more than 19 stores listed on your passport, but you only need 19 stamps as long as you have stamps from at least one of the stores with multiple locations. For example, you only need to visit ONE of the Third Place Books locations (either Lake Forest Park, Ravenna, or Seward Park). The same applies to Liberty Bay Books (which has stores in both Poulsbo and Bremerton) and University Book Store (you may choose either the University District or Mill Creek store).
