A day at the beach, welcome to all folks who are trans, non-binary, gender-nonconforming, two-spirit, and anyone else under those umbrellas.
We had such a wonderful community turnout at July’s 1st Seattle Trans Picnic, so let’s follow it up with an amazing day at the beach!
Let’s build up our local trans community and make connections and cultivate trans joy! Come as yourself!! Have some food, hang out in a trans space, enjoy the sun, enjoy the shade, enjoy the water, maybe make some friends. Please share widely with other trans folks who’d be interested in attending! Another way to share this event is at seattletranspicnic.com.
We’ll plan to be at the south end of Madison Park beach (to the right as you enter the beach).
We’ll try to put up some balloons and flags so you know you’re in the right place.
Google Maps location of Madison Park Beach: https://goo.gl/maps/PGMENiMWk5ryBMK56
• On Metro Bus line #11, which has connections near the Westlake & Capitol Hill light rail stations
• Some parking right in front of the beach; otherwise, there is street parking in all directions from the park.

Bring your own:

• Beach blanket(s) or chairs (if you want)
• Any beach/swimming activities including a swimsuit (if you want)

WEAR WHAT YOU WANT!! This is a trans space on a trans day full of trans people, and we support you! It’s legal and awesome if you want to be shirt/topless no matter what body you have. It’s also perfectly ok if you don’t want to wear a swimsuit and just enjoy a dark in the park.
We’ll have a limited number of individually-portioned food and drinks available (come early if you want to be sure to get some). Please leave a comment if you’d like to bring something to share! We’d like to be as COVID-safe and clean as we can, so no “potluck” style food, please.
There is shade on the land, away from the water. The park has wheelchair accessibility: There are paths with incline from the sidewalks/streets. The paths into the beach area have small gravel, and then gathering areas are on dry & fairly hard grass. See the entrance to the beach area here (the grass is drier this summer than in the streetview): https://goo.gl/maps/d5hWX74V4K3eMBvf6
Please comment or DM the organizer(s) if you have any accessibility concerns/questions!
Some notes:
• This event is not affiliated with any group or organization, this is just our community coming together.
• Please be COVID vaccinated if you are medically able!!
• This beach can get crowded, and we will likely share space with cis folks not affiliated with this event. Just remember — the cis take up the beach 364 days a year, but this day is for us to take up all the space we want, unapologetically!
• Cis loved ones are OK to bring, but please keep this event trans-focused.
• Please be cool. Be supportive of each other (especially those of us in other marginalized communities), listen to each other, respect each other. That said, the community won’t tolerate racism or other hate/oppression.
• No cops.

We’ll be monitoring wildfire smoke and bad weather, so keep an eye on this event or seattletranspicnic.com if outdoor conditions are questionable.
We look forward to seeing all your amazing faces there!
