Upper Left & Seattle Theatre Group present SHADOWS
Upper Left’s avante-garde approach to Halloween returns on Saturday, October 28th. Live performances and DJ sets will once again provide the soundtrack for a multi-sensory journey into the darkest of holidays. Within the walls of the 96 year-old Neptune Theatre, we’ll combine some of today’s freshest sounds with the haunted imagery of a bygone era. This Halloween, you’re invited to join us as we musically and artistically explore the Shadows.
Performances by
:: Toro Y Moi (DJ Set) ::
http://toroymoi.com
Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Chaz Bear (formerly Bundick) has been actively involved in music going back to his early teenage years playing in punk and indie rock bands. Bear unveiled his Toro y Moi guise in 2001, in which he began incorporating electronics and channeling a wider swath of stylistic influences — from indie rock and ’60s baroque pop to ’80s R&B, French house, and underground hip-hop — into his own solo music. With each release, Bear has revealed himself to be as prolific as diverse. His always refreshing contributions to the music world culminated with the release of his most recent studio album, Boo Boo. If you’ve heard it, you know without a doubt why we’re so excited for his performance at Shadows.
:: Sango ::
https://sangobeats.com
Sango is a Seattle-based producer who is most known for his remixes of Aaliyah, Drake, Little Dragon, Nas, The Weeknd, his debut album ‘North,’ his Baile Funk EP series “Da Rocinha,” and his work with the Soulection collective. At the young age of 12, Sango started producing music alongside his older brother and his friends. His work mainly focuses on hip-hop, and soul influenced beats that over the years have come together as his own distinct and innovative sound. Having since produced for some of the industry’s hottest acts (Tinashe, Bryson Tiller, Mick Jenkins, GoldLink, Wale & more), Sango has become a household name in a whole lot of circles and we’re thrilled to hear what he brings to the table this Halloween.
:: Romaro Franceswa ::

A product of Federal Way, WA and blessed with the gift of gab from a young age, Franceswa’s style of rapping is brash and aggressive, but also humble and rooted in reality. His 2015 debut album Balance, helped thrust the young MC in front of massive crowds and landed him on the cover of City Arts Magazine. He’s opened for Rakim, Vince Staples, Jacquees, Vic Mensa, and toured nationally with Grieves of Rhymesayers. Make sure you’re front and center when he takes the stage at Shadows.
:: Qreepz ::

If you saw that Qreepz performance on the Upper Left stage at Upstream Music Fest, then you already know. Come ready for a show when this DJ/Producer puts his gritty-meets-melodic sound on full display at The Neptune.
:: Chong The Nomad ::

Seattle artist Chong the Nomad started producing and making beats when she was 14-years-old. Her time spent scoring films and studying classical chamber music composition at Cornish College of the Arts only added more emotion to the fire. Get there early for this one!
