SH!TSTORM #7
November 16, 2015 @ 7:00 pm
The venerable council of SH!TSTORM invites you to mark the passage of Brendan Kiley from The Stranger with a no-holds-barred discussion of the past 15 years of culture in Seattle and what role arts criticism has played, if any, in shaping it. SH!TSTORM: Kiley will take place on Nov 16th at 7 PM at the Jewel Box Theater in the Rendezvous in Bell Town. The conversation will start with the following Bone of Contention – What was Kiley trying to do? Did he do it well? Was it worth doing? – and it will end with a song.
The evening will feature Josef Krebs and Paul Mullin, among others, who will help us assess the role of The Stranger, for better or worse, in shaping the culture of Seattle. Other subjects may include: the lack of substance of Brendan‘s writing on the theatre community, whether or not arts criticism is more enduring than the ephemeral electrons with which it’s written, and any personal peeves and grievances you wish to air before these unreleased vexations tear you apart.
SH!TSTORM is a tavern-based forum on the state of Seattle culture (such as it is) and stands opposed to vacuous symposia and polite conferences that stifle passionate input. There are no rules to SH!TSTORM, except the Oath of No Attribution: Everything said at SH!TSTORM is off the record to press and gossipers alike.
