Sick & Disabled QTPOC Storytelling
July 23, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
This Freedom Summer event will focus on uplifting the artistic expression of sick and disabled queer and trans people of color (QTPOC), and will especially center Black sick and disabled queer and trans people. In an effort to cultivate communal power, care, and joy, and to build relationship with another, let’s gather and express in whatever way works best for our bodies—whether that is through dance, comedy, music, poetry, visual art, or whatever way you tell stories best.
Let’s interrupt the erasure of sick and disabled QTPOC that goes on in movement work and every day life, n make our ancestors smile by affirming the sweetness of our bodies for simply existing.

“Freedom Summer is led by black youth in Youth Undoing Institutional Racism (a part of the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond Network). Freedom Summer Seattle 2017 is an opportunity to connect newly activated and agitated black activists and organizers into our place in the movement. Through learning history, anti – racist organizing principles, community care practices and expression through art, music and culture we work to strengthen the connection of the Black community here in Seattle.
*Our intentional audience is “For Black Eyes Only”.
In 2017, the anti-racist, anti-capitalist organizing work of Asian, Pacific Islander, Latino/x, Native and Anti-Racist, Racist White Youth will come together under the banner of Freedom Summer through the coordination of YUIR.”
