SHORT SUMMARY:
SLOW BURN is an exploration of the very limits of traditional drag lip sync. SLOW BURN is seven uninterrupted hours of performance. SLOW BURN is an installation in an art gallery. SLOW BURN is a solo costume ball. SLOW BURN is a love letter to the discography of a single recording artist. SLOW BURN is a one-day-only experience.
LONG SUMMARY:
SLOW BURN is a one-day-only, 7-hour-long durational performance art installation of lip sync and costume. The performance will occur at The Factory, an art gallery in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, WA. The performance is immersive in the sense that there is no stage – the performer will utilize all areas of the gallery.
As an audience member, this durational performance can be experienced as a 5-minute stop-by, a 7-hour full commitment, and anything in between. Your ticket comes with in-and-out privileges so that you may come and go as you please (subject to restrictions, please see ticketing information below for details).
Seating is not provided, *however* you may bring lawn chairs/pillows/sleeping bags/any other items that will assist in your comfort.
There will be no intermissions/breaks/pauses – rather, the audience is invited to come and go as they please in the way that best suits their comfort and overall experience. (In other words, you can *totally* use the restroom/get a drink/take a stretch break outside during the show if you want and it will be *totally* okay.)
Accessibility information TBA.
This event is open to all ages. There will be a bar for those who are 21+, ID required.
COLLABORATING ARTISTS:
TBA
TICKETING DETAILS:
A total of ten $20 tickets will be sold in advance. They can be purchased by arranging an in-person pickup (cash only) with Arson by emailing arsonnicki@gmail.com. They take the form of a custom tie-on wristband. This wristband is the only type of ticket that will guarantee access to the show and secure in-and-out privileges regardless of how many audience members are in the room.
All other tickets will be $10 and will be sold at the door day-of-show on a space-available basis. These tickets include, but do not guarantee, in-and-out privileges. In other words: if you leave the room and return at a time when the event has reached capacity, you will be able to return once someone exits the venue. (Bathroom breaks are exempt from this restriction.)
Please understand that the above is due to an *extremely* limited room capacity and a necessity/desire to pay all of the artists and curators involved in the production of this work.
If you anticipate that finances will prevent you from seeing the show, please contact Arson at the email address listed below as there will be some volunteer opportunities available in exchange for free admission.
