SLOW BURN: A Durational Drag Performance + Tatiana Gill
August 9, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Slow Burn is a piece created and performed by Seattle drag artist Arson Nicki. It pushes the art form of traditional drag lip sync to its extremes. An 9-hour-long playlist is built, a drag performer hits the shuffle button, presses play, and lip syncs the whole thing without pauses or breaks. The premise is simple; the resulting work is anything but.
It is an installation, it is a durational performance, it is a gallery piece, it is a solo costume ball.
It is immersive in the sense that there is no “stage” – the performer moves throughout the entire room.
It is casual in the sense that your ticket gives you in-and-out privileges throughout the performance. Step out when you want to, come back when you please. You can sit. You can stand. Lawn chairs/pillows/sleeping bags/other comfort items are permitted and encouraged.
Slow Burn was originally presented at The Factory in Seattle, WA in November 2016, and was remounted at Mokedo in Seattle, WA and project205 in Portland, OR in August 2017.

All admission will be sold at the door day-of-show. Cash and card will be accepted. Price is $5-10 sliding scale; you are encouraged to contribute what you can, as admission goes directly to supporting the artist and the space.
