Sovereign: Black Queer One Womyn Show Festival

Sovereign black queer one womyn show festival returns for the second year at 18th & Union Art Space sponsored by the Hansberry Project. This year’s festival will feature solo shows from local artist and Gregory Award winner of Best Actress in a play, Aishe’ Keita, healing sound artist, Naa Akua, burlesque extraordinaire Briq House, afro-latinx songstress, Aviona Rodriguez Brown, also D.C. guest artist and dynamic member of the peace and body roll duo “Boom-scat,”Patience Sings. Their shows are grounded in various artistic disciplines including music, dance, poetry, and traditional griot storytelling.
The festival will be held at 18th & Union Art Space with rotating programs throughout the weekend. There are single and multi-day passes available.
