Sow Queer – Artist In Residence Showcase
September 12, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Town Hall’s Artist-In-Residence HATLO is a Seattle-based queer performance maker and artistic collaborator. They invite us to join them and dozens of their fellow performance makers at this public showcase of works-in-progress. Hatlo believes that their capacity to continue working in this city is deeply entwined with the well-being, survival, innovation and imagination of Seattle’s many queer art-making communities. Their new project, Sow Queer, brings a diverse group of queer performance-makers to Town Hall for 6 weeks of subversive-is-sacred-sunday gatherings, co-working practice, and opportunities to share their work with each other and the Town Hall Homecoming Festival.
With creative support from artist Fox Whitney, Hatlo will facilitate space for more than 50 artists working separately together, each diving into their own practice while contributing to the energy of a larger community. Sow Queer is a building-wide collective experiment in generating fertile artistic process to support the growth of new projects and ideas for all participants.
Wander the building to see what unfolds as these queer artists, performers, and designers share what they’ve been refining over the course of the Sow Queer residency. Observe process-in-action, participate in interactive pieces, and witness excerpts of complex emerging projects ranging from technical to lo-fi, deepening to early days. Come as you are and explore this experimental creative process alongside many of Seattle’s most essential artistic voices.
Presented by Town Hall Seattle.
