Story

Our singers are proud to present our Talent Showcase on Friday, March 24 at Rainier Beach Presbyterian. Craft Fair, and Bake Sale start at 6:30, Performances at 7:00. Silent auction bidding starts at 11:30am and ends at 8:30pm (see the “Auction” tab above to view listings and get registered to bid!).

Come support our multi-talented members through performing arts and help us raise funds for our first season’s operating costs. Buy your sliding scale tickets now for in-person or online attendance. Masks are required indoors. No smoking on site please.

At STANCE (Seattle Trans and Nonbinary Choral Ensemble), a community by and for trans and nonbinary singers, we have a vision of sharing the unique wonders of trans joy with the world. Through our music, both singers and audiences can find embodiment and connect to our full selves, physical and emotional. But to keep building this dream into a reality, we need your help.

Renting a building to rehearse and perform, hiring an accompanist, and buying singer supplies like masks requires funds that we currently don’t have. We’ve been applying for lots of grants, but so far, none have come through. Our initial crowdfunding campaigns generated about half of our startup costs, and we will not be able to make it to our June show without some financial help. That is where this fundraiser comes in.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
