Stronger Together: A Community Gathering on Hate & Bias
March 19, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
You are invited to Safer Together, a community gathering to discuss experiences of hate and bias in our neighborhoods and communities. As hate motivated violence continues to rise across the country, we want to hear from you all how community members, community based orgs, and city council can work together locally to reduce and prevent hate and bias in our fabulous lives.
The NW Network operates an info-gathering line to record experiences of violence within King County. The info-gathering line centers LGBTQ communities, but it is open to anyone who has experienced hate or bias motivated violence. Information submitted is anonymous, confidential, and not connected to law enforcement. If you’re a member of the community and have experienced hate or bias motivated violence let us know at 206-214-9834.
Information gathered from the line will be used to produce a yearly report for community members, organizers, and policy makers across the county to illuminate the problem in greater detail and to inform best practices for prevention of and healing from hate violence.
At this community gathering we want to hear from all of you:
• What responses, beyond law enforcement, are needed to prevent and respond to violence against individuals and communities?
• What ways can diverse communities come together to heal from violence? What resources are needed?
• What skill-building do we need to promote and practice?
We look forward to talking with you and building community connections, essential steps in creating safety for all!
Food and activities for children will be provided!
