Kwanchai Events presents Syttende Gay 2017, 17th of May which is Norwegian Constitution Day celebrated in Seattle for 128 years.
For those unfamiliar with Norwegian Constitution Day, it is a very celebrated day in Norway, celebrating that Norway officially received a constitution on 17th of May 1814.

Last year we celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Syttende Gay, which was created for the Nordic LGBT Community and guests in 2006, as part of the Norwegian Constitution Day celebration in Ballard. Though there is an emphasis on the LGBT part, this event is for all to celebrate, regardless, as harmonious and diverse.

Since 2008, we have been part of the venue known as the BalMar up until last year, we are excited to be back in the venue which is now known as Jones Brothers & Co. The venue has been refurbished with a new and refreshing look, along with a new name that was a chosen one from a long-standing one-time business in Ballard’s history. The ownership of Jones Brothers & Co. is the same over the last few years, however creating a more inspiring venue for the community at large. This certainly is fitting with this being our 11th year, off to the next 10.

We are excited to bring back Haff Haff, your entertainer of the last three years of our event, who is a household name in Iceland. Miss Iona Trailer is back as your Drag Artist, amazingly fitting into a Nordic theme. There will be Nordic inspired, food and drink, with Kwanchai Premium Vodka and Akevitt shots. We will be also raising money for the New Nordic Heritage Museum, currently under construction on NW. Market (see) https://nordicmuseum.org/future. This is an exciting venture for our community!
