Twist360 Happy Hour Conversation – Rose Troche
November 12, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
PLEASE NOTE THE NEW DATE AND TIME! Please join us on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 12th at 5PM at The Cloud Room for a drink and special presentation by Rose Troche — who was just named one of the top 10 ten women leading the VR Revolution! http://nymag.com/thecut/2016/09/virtual-reality-women-run-the-world-c-v-r.html
Troche will share her journey from low-budget, indie filmmaking (Go Fish, Six Feet Under, The L Word) to episodic VR, and how she’s exploring queer aesthetic and culture in immersive worlds. One drink is included in the ticket price.
Troche is a pioneer of queer and indie cinema. In 1994, her groundbreaking independent feature “Go Fish” launched lesbian narrative into mainstream cinema. Now she is in production on an eight-part VR comedy series, “LGBTQIA,” about queer life in high school. Drawn to telling narratives from different points of view, Troche has been an early adopter of immersive storytelling. Perspective Chapter 2: The Misdemeanor, a VR short, explores racial bias from four eye-witness accounts of a police shooting.
In the afternoon Troche will serve as a judge for the TWIST360º Bootcamp pitch session. TWIST360º is a incubator to train local queer artists and filmmakers in 360º production and seed queer-themed 360º projects.
