We posted this on Craigslist earlier this week…it speaks for itself.
Established LGBTQ Seattle website with 50,000 page views per month (and growing) seeks Writers, Bloggers, Photographers, Cartoonists, Artists for non-paying gigs. Reliable, responsible writers with a strong and professional writing style, a knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, & punctuation and a sense of wry humor are especially needed. Perfect gig for students, unemployed, underemployed, work at home types with flexible schedules. Women and POC are especially encouraged to apply. Repeat: this is a non-paying gig, for now, but some potential to receive free tickets/cover to local events. Specific help we are looking for:
1)At least one DAILY writer who can commit to 2-4 short posts per weekday on local events, news and pop culture of interest to the LGBTQ community. Must be dependable.
2)At least one MUSIC writer with strong interest in local music scene and variety of musical genres. OR, multiple writers who might be more specific.
3)At least one FOOD writer interested in local restaurants and/or home cooking/baking.
4)At least one PHOTOGRAPHER to cover local LGBTQ nightlife and events. Ideal candidate(s) would have a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends and probably already have an active social life. Gifted amateurs encouraged to apply; we can’t afford professionals with expensive equipment but you would ideally have something better than a camera phone.
5)At least one SPORTS writer to cover local LGBTQ sports and events, ie Rugby, Soccer, Softball, the Seattle Storm, etc. Also: OUTDOORS writers to write about camping, hiking, water/winter sports activities.
6)At least one person with strong interest in covering local NEWS with the time to do some actual reporting. Must be very responsible and ethical.Other fields of potential interest for coverage: HEALTH, RELIGION/SPIRITUALITY, BOOKS, FAMILIES, SENORS, YOUTH. Or, anything else you want to pitch!
Cartoonists, Artists, Filmmakers are also encouraged to submit material/ideas for possible projects.
We are NOT looking for any Fiction/Poetry at this time.
