The Escandalo about actor/hunk Channing Tatum’s stripper past emerged a couple years back, (and, it wasn’t much of a scandal…he stripped and admitted to it) and frankly, it’s a juicy and fascinating tale so the enterprising young actor is putting together a film project that’ll explore those jock-strapped formative years. He’s teaming with Oscar winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh (Erin Brockovich, Traffic) to make a film based on his experiences as a 19 year old male stripper in Florida called Magic Mike. Tatum would play the title character who takes a younger dude under his, er, wing to introduce him to the (hetero) sex drenched world of male stripping. Said Tatum in the press release:
“This was a wild and pivotal time in my life and I couldn’t be more thrilled to go down the rabbit hole with Steven.”
Rabbit holes….really?
It’ll be awhile before we see Magic Mike…both Mr. Soderbergh and Mr. Tatum are heavily booked for film projects so it’ll be at least a year or more before we’ll see Mr. T shake his taters and meat on screen…
