Oh my…I just looked at the upcoming calendar for next year and the poo poo will hit the fan during Valentine’s Week 2012. There’s a ridiculous amount of events going on in the LGBTQ world and they’re going to be duking it out for our attendance and our entertainment budgets. Rosehedge/Multifaith Works has their annual “Love Without Boundaries” event ON Valentine’s Day, February 14th, then the GSBA has their big annual Awards Dinner on Thursday the 16th. The Imperial Sovereign Court of Seattle is holding their Coronation events all week, with numerous events leading up to the big Coronation Ball at the Seattle Renaissance Hotel on Saturday the 18th which is also the same night for the HUGE annual “Red Dress Party”, the major party/fundraiser that was postponed from last fall. Oh, and the Seattle Women’s Chorus is doing their Winter concert, “Shot Through The Heart” that night, (and Sunday the 15th) as well. All this, plus all the usual Valentine’s Day events and I think I heard talk of another major event being planned as well…Oh, dear! The result will be, ridiculously busy schedules and some tough decisions for some people…you can’t go to EVERYTHING! (And, who can afford it?)
Now, obviously some of these events appeal to many diverse parts of the community, but there will be some overlap. You know there must be some folks who would like to do BOTH the Court Ball AND Red Dress Party.
Maybe we’ll rent a van and charge to shuttle people back and forth…
