New Queer on the Block: The Bitch is Back with Drag, Arts and Culture

April 16, 2012• byBrian Peterson

Hello “brick wall” that I tore down with a sledgehammer that I miraculously stole from the butch lesbian passing right by me last night. So much has happened in my hiatus and as the gods and goddesses have declared in the past, there is much to discuss over your bottle of whiskey and hot porn playing in the background!

Life is blissful – charming – chaotic – a hot mess!! What a more perfect combination of assertive qualities in life could you ask for when talking about New Queer on the Block? It involves nothing more important than a brilliant musician that I’m dating and living with now and we are working hard together to save up for some huge traveling announcement this summer. Just saying!

Chad Michaels, Phi Phi O'hara, and Sharon Needles are the final three contestants on RuPaul's Drag Race, Season Four... Who is going to be the winner? I can give you a wild hair guess, but I don't think that would matter!

In the realm of drag race commentary…can I just already send a huge CONGRATULATIONS and a PAT ON THE BACK to miss satin herself, Sharon Needles? I was somewhat disappointed with Dan Savage’s performance appearance on the show – why was Dan Savage so mute? What the hell was in his contract?!? Latrice Royale!!! What the heck just happened? In my view, it should have been Latrice Royale, Sharon Needles and Chad Michaels in the final three. Guess I can’t always get what I want, or even what America wants.

Next Monday is the finale and I’ll be providing you with a very special and final “Untucked with Brian”. I want to know who do you think deserves to win this season…Chad Michaels, Phi Phi O’Hara, Sharon Needles??? Yes, I’ve gotten your emails about my missing in action propaganda…

At least Latrice Royale is coming to Seattle very soon to R Place, so watch out for the large and in charge diva!

My Music Playlist these days…Music I’m crazy for right now and is featured on my daily playlist at home and at work include The Cure, Jay Brannon, Storm Large, Duran Duran, Muse, Logan Lynn, Joshua Radin and The BreakUp. Hey did you know they are playing in Olympia on May 6th at Jake’s on 4th? Check out the news on this show right here! I’m always up for discoveries and suggestion to great music, so list away my pets.

While Adrian Ryan is getting death threats and vile messages from the public (note: read last week’s letters to the editor in The Stranger…priceless!) I can presume that you got this side of the tee covered with ElektroPOP and your normal watering holes on Capitol Hill. You know, it’s hard to please an entire community of drinkers and boozers, right! Go out on an adventure and discover the night life on a mysterious journey.

Don’t take my word for it, give it a whirl! Just remember to take some incriminating photographs to share with moi!

Team of Hero's opens on April 20th at Annex Theatre. Visit www.annextheatre.org for ticket information. Photo Credit: Ian Johnston/Annex Theatre

Theater that I am head over heels for…Team of Hero’s at Annex Theatre… As a former employee of Annex Theatre, I know first hand how important and gratifying this show is. Featuring Jason Sharp, Rachel Jackson, Danielle Daggerty and a few other players. Get your tickets today for this story that answers a great question, “What does it take to be a Superhero?”

Solo Performance Festival #6: Full Spectrum at Theatre Off Jackson…since I’m a huge fan of performance artists and one-person shows, I’m really looking forward to this year’s festival, especially since I missed out on this great festival last year! What magical creation is going to surface from Full Spectrum? Check it out here!

So there you have it! Eat it up, spit it back out and check back next Monday for another “brand spanking” new issue of New Queer on the Block!
