Hi Fashion For Butch Women

Tomboy Tailors of San Francisco will be offering up some ZEXY bespoke tailored fashion for the butch woman.

Butch Women have to deal with some irritating stereotyping…no, they don’t all have mullets, play softball and wear nasty nylon b-ball shorts and Seattle Storm jerseys. Many butch women would LIKE to be fashion forward and wear stylish, well-tailored menswear inspired clothing but come across the problem of unfriendly retailers and clothing that isn’t designed for more feminine bodies.

Happily, there are some savvy independent fashion houses rising to the occasion and providing a sartorially pleasing shopping option for the butch woman. The website “Butch Wonders” profiles three such start ups that offer adorably sophisticated and well-tailored fashions for the woman looking for that snappy menswear look including one company that is in the process of creating a brick and mortar shop in San Francisco:

To my knowledge,Tomboy Tailors is the only butch/MOC clothing company with a permanent store you can visit.  Scheduled to openFeb. 2 (at 50 Post St. in San Francisco, CA), Tomboy Tailors was founded by Zel Anders, a longtime Bay Area butch who was tired of negative experiences at men’s clothing stores–even in one of the most progressive areas of the country.  “I knew that if I was having these unpleasant shopping experiences, then other butch lesbians and trans-masculine individuals must be having the same experience,” Anders says.

Check out the rest of the article to find out about two other sites offering butch fashions: Saint Harridan and Fourteen. There’s some seriously hawt clothes on these sites…so much so, that Mr. Strangeways is thinking about becoming a butch lesbian. The frumpy, homo grunge look really isn’t working out for me anymore…

Of course, this means that we now expect to see more forward fashion, natty womyn promenading up and down the Pike/Pine corridor in crisply tailored suitings and snappy fedoras. And, a lot less ratty nylon based athletic gear.
