RECAP: Episode 14 of “The Walking Dead:” “Prey.” In Which Andrea Almost Does Something Useful.

Walking Dead

This week’s episode of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” titled “Prey” was all about Loves A Bad Boy Drea and her bad boy of choice the Guvnor.  All the action took place inside Stepbury or the surround area as LABB Drea, who has finally come to her sense and realizes the Guvnor is a crazy tries to make her escape.

Everyone likes lists, right?  This week I offer a few lists of what LABB Drea did right, what she did wrong:

What LABB Drea Did Right:

  1. Realized the Guvnor is a sociopathic bastard.  Of course she should have know this MONTHS ago but I guess Milton telling her of his boss’s plans to slaughter the prison gang and then torture Michonne to death and actually seeing his torture chamber finally drove the point home for her.
  2. She tries to get away.
  3. Sets a pack of vicious Biters loose on the Guvnor (more on this later).

And that’s it folks.  Those are the only two things that LABB Drea managed to get right in last night’s episode.

Now for the longer list of what LABB Drea Did Wrong:

  1. Didn’t shoot the Guvnor when she had the chance.  Yes, yes Milton was sort of right when he said Martinez would have taken over but you know what?  LABB Drea could have shot the Guvnor, then shot Martinez and then anyone else that questioned her.
  2. Not given Martinez her gun.  What was he going to do?  Shoot her dead in the street?   I don’t think so.
  3. When the Guvnor chases her into the scary building she could have picked up the shovel that he later used to creepy effect, waited behind a door and clobber the fuck out of him.  If you can do it to a Biter you can do it to a man.
  4. Failing the shovel move LABB Drea could have circled back to the Guvnor’s car, after setting the aforementioned pack of vicious Biters on him, and either stolen it, jumped in, hid behind his seat and cut his throat if he came back to drive off, or I don’t know slashed its fucking tire so if he survived the Biter pack he would have to track her on foot.  HELLO????????
  5. Fought a little harder when he jumped her from behind.  Correct me if I am wrong, gentle readers,” but I don’t remember him putting a gun to her head when he tackled her right outside of the prison.  Jesus, put a fight lady!!!

Of course LABB Drea, being LABB Drea, didn’t do any of these things so now she is strapped down in the torture chamber.  Good luck, GURL!!!!

You know I have really tried with LABB Drea.  I thought she was going to turn it around and find some common sense and ruthlessness but no.  Now she is about to be tortured and while I don’t really want to see that I don’t know that she is smart enough to be able to credibly live out the remainder of the zombie apocalypse.  I guess we will just have to wait and see!

Oh, yeah there was a side story about Tyrese and his band but I am so not invested in those characters.  Let’s just say I am pretty sure ancillary white characters are going to die this time around.  Which will be refreshing.
