Jane & Pete-e Are Grand Marshalls for SO&P’s 2013 Seattle Pride Parade

Jane Lighty and Pete-e Petersen get the first same sex marriage license in Washington State…now, they are Grand Marshals for the 2013 Pride Parade.

Only a monster would not love Jane Abbott Lighty and Pete-e Petersen, the 35 year long couple who were the first to be issued a marriage license after Washington State achieved marriage equality last year with the passage of Referendum 74. They are the poster couple for Marriage Equality and Seattle Out and Proud have wisely chosen them to be Grand Marshals for this year’s Seattle Pride Parade happening Sunday, June 30, 2013 in downtown Seattle.

Others were also named last week as Grand Marshals:

Sarah Toce, Founder and Editor-in-chief of The Seattle Lesbian, Zach Silk and Lacey All, of Washington United for Marriage and, Guatam Raghavan, who serves as a liaison to the LGBTQ community in his role as Associate Director for the White House Office of Public Engagement. In keeping with the longstanding tradition in the Parade’s 39-year history, the slate of Marshals represents a diverse list of honorees and representatives of and for the LGBTQ community.

And, we’re guessing more will be named later…it seems like they usually have more Grand Marshalls than this.

Sadly, it’s probably too late to name Macklemore & Lewis or Jinkx Monsoon…we know “M&L” are out of town and Jinkxy is probably booked…

And, registration is up for Pride Parade 2013…go here to sign up your business or organization.

Don’t forget…SO&P’s “Pride Idol” continues at Neighbours this Sunday night…sadly, without me as a judge.
