The only must do event for this Friday, January 9th (if you don’t care about saving flailing, greasy Halloween make-up stores…) is Three Dollar Bill Cinema’s huge Membership event at the Harvard Exit Cinema on Capitol Hill. Our beloved queer film organization in Seattle, responsible for putting on the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival and the Translations Film Festival among other events, is throwing a special party tonight to offer its members a treat while showcasing the new season of HBO’s hit comedy/drama series Looking which debuts season 2 this Sunday, January 11 at 10pm. One of the stars of the show, Murray Bartlett will be on hand to schmooze with Three Dollar Bill members and the first two episodes of the new season will screen. Music, nibbles and drinks are all part of the frivolity.

Seattle Gay Scene will also be there and we have some Looking Season One DVDs to giveaway courtesy of HBO…look out for us and that opportunity!

BUT, you must be a member to attend. Go here to purchase or renew a membership!

After the screening, the event turns into a farewell party for our beloved Harvard Exit which wraps up its life as a cinema this weekend. The venue will be remodeled into retail market and restaurant space. For those of us who love the Harvard Exit, it’ll be a bittersweet evening to have to say good bye to the old girl. Frankly, it’s a travesty that it’s being decommissioned as a theater and turned into another yupscale/hipster foodie emporium. Ugh. We’re hoping the Harvard Exit Ghost will wreck its revenge!!!!

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
