Michelle Visage is in Seattle so frequently, I’m beginning to think she must live here.
Does she have a little hideaway here somewhere? A penthouse pied-à-terre with a zexy little boudoir for her to work on her memoirs in peace and quiet and without the prattle of drag queens and pit crew members distracting her like they would on the set of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” where she serves as RuPaul’s right hand co-judge.
She must have found some solitude at SOME point in the last year because she did manage to find time to pen a new book, The Diva Rules: Ditch the Drama, Find Your Strength, and Sparkle Your Way to the Top. It’s not really a memoir but a self-help guide to help you achieve the sparkly divahood to which you inspire. It was just released this week (via Chronicle Books so it’s a REAL book and not some sad self-published thing…) and naturally Ms Visage is hitting the road to promote it.
She’s hitting Seattle Wednesday, November 11th for a VERY special event at the Egyptian Theatre on Capitol Hill which is turning off the movie projector for one night so Madame Visage can take the stage with her moderator for the evening, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season Five winner and Seattle Superstar Jinkx Monsoon. We’re not entirely sure what they’re gonna do…gab and take questions, I’m sure but hopefully SOMEONE will sing. Maybe Ms Michelle herself will croon one of her old ditties with Ms Jinkx. For those of you old enough to remember/smart enough to Google it, Michelle Visage was part of the vocal trio SEDUCTION back “in the day” aka 1989/90. Maybe a medley of their favorite songs will be performed!!!
At the very least, you’ll get a copy of the book and some quality time with America’s favorite judge you love to hate who isn’t Nina Garcia or Zac Posen.
Tickets for the event are over HERE which is a joint effort apparently between Third Place Books and SIFF.
Oddly enough, there’s also an after event party at R Place but with this curious footnote displayed on all posters and press material:
Keep the night going! Head down to R Place for drinks and Robbie Turner’s Playground! R Place is just two blocks from The Egyptian, and Robbie Turner is not to be missed!
*Michelle Visage and Jinkx Monsoon will not be appearing at R Place.
So, does that mean they really AREN’T going to be at R Place, (which would make for a pretty pointless after party event…) or, are they just SAYING that so R Place doesn’t have to pony up an appearance fee? So odd.
OR, does it mean that Jinkx and Michelle have joined the looooooooooooooong list of people on R Place’s Banned List? Did they start the “We hate R Place” Facebook Page?
We hope Michelle and Jinkx DO show up at R Place. We can all carefully watch and see if Michelle gives Robbie Turner any knowing looks, or the secret RPDR handshake that all those initiated into the “Cult of RuPaul” must learn. This would verify the worst kept secret in town…you know the one. The one about Robbie Turner running off this summer to be on “Celebrity Death Match Season 8″….
I digress!!!
Here’ s EVERYTHING you need to know about the event!
