Schitt’s Creek Is Coming To Seattle

We heard it through the grapevine earlier this week that there’s an upcoming event at the Paramount celebrating everyone’s favorite Canadian television show, SCHITT’S CREEK. The show, which stars comedy icons Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy who created the show with his out gay son Daniel Levy who co-stars, is about a dysfunctional and rather vapid rich show bizzy family who end up broke and forced to live in their last remaining asset, the tiny town of Schitt’s Creek which they bought as a joke year’s before. It’s a classic “fishes out of water” tale but it feels fresh due to the talents of his cast and the charm of the characters.

The show has become a sleeper hit over the course of five seasons, especially with LGBTQ audiences, some of whom are longtime fans of O’Hara and Levy Senior but also due to the charms of young Daniel Levy who plays the gay son on the show and has evolved his character as an out gay man over the last five years.

“Schitt’s Creek: Up Close & Personal” was created in 2018 to give fans a chance to meet the cast in person…it’s basically a “fan fest” kind of event with cast members appearing, telling stories and showing clips. It’s the kind of thing you see at most media conventions like Comicon…basically it’s a panel discussion for fans to come together to celebrate a show they love and see the cast/creators in person.

So, Seattle Theatre Group announced that “Schitt’s Creek: Up Close & Personal” is heading to Seattle on May 29th earlier this week and we thought: “yay!” But, the problem is, we’re not 100% sure who is coming….the details provided on the Facebook invite and on the actual event page on Seattle Theatre Group’s website are rather vague. It implies things but doesn’t necessarily state them. Will the three main attractions be in attendance? (O’Hara and the 2 Levys) We reached out to STG and they haven’t replied…

Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 22nd. We do know, that the Los Angeles event quickly sold out so if you’re a mega fan, you might want to hop on snagging tickets. Hopefully STG will clear things up a bit before they go on sale.

Side note: it’s worth going just to see the comedy goddess Catherine O’Hara. We j’adore her.
