Calendar Mark: July 17 For GSBA’s “Meet the Candidates 2019”

June 21, 2019• byMichael Strangeways
Egan Orion and Zachary DeWolf both qualified this week to participate in Seattle's Democracy Voucher program which helps fund city wide political races.

It’s almost a month away but you should put this on your calendar of things to do in July if you’re not out of town: the GSBA’s MEET THE CANDIDATES forum for the 2019 local elections in the Greater Seattle area. It’s happening Wednesday, July 17th at the Amazon Meeting Center on 7th Avenue. It’s a free event but you do need to register to attend!

MANY of the candidates in the races are SCHEDULED to attend…doesn’t mean they will; after all, other things do come up. We won’t hold it against them….unless they dump us for a different event…

Join GSBA and our community partners for an evening of civic engagement and connecting with candidates running for office in the Puget Sound. This pre-primary, non-partisan event will include candidates for city councils, county councils, judges, and more.
Community partners will be on hand to help you update your voter registration, learn how to run for office yourself, understand issues in your district, and spread the word about Census 2020.
Candidates running for King County Council, Seattle City Council, King County Superior Court, King County Appeals Court, Seattle School Board, Bellevue City Council, and more have been invited. All candidates for each race are invited; this is a non-partisan event and attendance at this event should not be considered an endorsement in any form by any participating organization or individual. Candidates in attendance will be listed as they confirm.
Appetizers and refreshments will be generously provided by our sponsors at Amazon and glamazon. There is no cost to attend, but RSVP is required.

Are you nervous about approaching candidates? Bring a friend with you so you can reinforce your points.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
