Nominate Queer Old Elders For Pillars of Pride!

March 23, 2024• byMichael Strangeways

They extended the deadline to nominate elders to be named PILLARS OF PRIDE to Sunday, March 31st! The “they” in question is GenPride Seattle who advocate and provide services for the elders of the LGBTQ+ community…you can find them in their forever home at Pride Place, the new residential community for gay elders at 1519 Broadway in the heart of Capitol Hill. GenPride runs the GenPride Center at Pride Place providing great programs and services to folks 55 and over.

They also produce the annual PILLARS OF PRIDE fundraising event every spring which honors six community elders for their contributions to Seattle’s LGBTQ life. This year’s ceremony will be held April 28th at Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center with hosts Aleksa Manila and Gaysha Starr who are ALMOST but not quite old enough to be nominated themselves!

There are 6 categories to choose from to nominate someone for a Pillar of Pride:

Volunteer Virtuoso

Building Belonging

Iconic Artistry

Rainbow Partnership

Bridging Legacies

Community Catalyst.

Go to the nominating page for more info and to make your nominations: https://genprideseattle.org/nominations-2024/

Frankly, we’re surprised they left out:

  • Charisma
  • Uniqueness
  • Nerve
  • Talent

And, the ability to lip off to mouthy, disrespectful kids, for your LIFE!

I’m sorta hoping I get nominated except I’m not QUITE old enough…I’m still in my early-mid-very very VERY late Forties…cough, cough.

Shut up. No one asked for your opinion.
