Teatro ZinZanni Returns For Fall/Winter Run With “Sizzle”

Just in time for the winter holidays, Teatro ZinZanni is back in Seattle with their new show, SIZZLE! And, for this new production, they’ll be parking their “tent” at Emerald City Trapeze Arts in the heart of Seattle’s SoDo District. The fun begins just after Thanksgiving, November 29th and will run through March and include some of your favorite zircus stars including “belter, provocateur, consummate chanteuse, and Cornish College of the Arts alum Rizo” who returns as the headliner MADAME, who owns the circus. Teatro ZinZanni announces a new show, new menu, and a new venue for SIZZLE! debuting November 29, 2024, at Emerald City Trapeze Arts, Seattle’s bustling hub of circus arts in the SODO neighborhood. 

Founded in Seattle in 1998, Teatro ZinZanni’s productions unify the immeasurable talents from the best of cirque, music, comedy, magic, and entertainment. As of today, Teatro ZinZanni has entertained over 2 million guests and has staged over 120 distinctive original productions. Each Teatro ZinZanni performance is distinctly interactive and playful: to attend Teatro ZinZanni is to be part of Teatro ZinZanni. The show unfolds above, around, and alongside the audience, who are transported to Teatro ZinZanni’s beautifully chaotic world the moment they step inside the venue.  

Teatro ZinZanni has long been synonymous with enchantment, wonder, and awe-inspiring experiences. Teatro ZinZanni SIZZLE! is staged within a fully outfitted, customized portion of Emerald City Trapeze Arts, recently acquired by SANCA (School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts). Founded in 2004, SANCA is one of the nation’s largest circus schools and nonprofit dedicated to enriching the community through access to circus classes and performances. An epicenter for the high-flying, Emerald City Trapeze Arts and SANCA showcase the vibrant expression of the circus arts. 

This new show and culinary experience will take the audience on a journey through a series of captivating and interconnected acts, seamlessly blending together awe-inspiring circus skills with storytelling. Each ticket includes a 4-course meal, with a selection of themed cocktails, mocktails, and premium wine, beer, and spirits for purchase. Teatro ZinZanni’s talented wait staff are not just there to serve but also to entertain with their charming and comedic antics, all integrated into the show experience itself.

For Sizzle!, Teatro ZinZanni brings together a world-renowned cast to its new Center Ring at Emerald City Trapeze Arts for SIZZLE! Starring belter, provocateur, consummate chanteuse, and Cornish College of the Arts alum Rizo returns as Teatro ZinZanni’s Madame, the owner of the circus, who is delighted to welcome everyone to Teatro ZinZanni’s latest production. A veteran of Teatro ZinZanni in both Seattle and Chicago, Rizo has been called by the New York Times “A fierce but kindhearted fusion of comedy, burlesque, performance art, and rock ‘n’ roll. Rizo makes connections between performer and audience that are impossible in any other context.”

Joining Rizo is a cast of performers new to Teatro ZinZanni Seattle:

• Physical comedian Joel Baker will bring his true clown and acrobatic skills to the Teatro ZinZanni stage after an amazing career with the Pickle Family Circus, Cirque du Soleil, Palazzo, and the 7 Fingers company.
• Trapeze artists Oliver Parkinson and Cassie Cutler of Duo 19 have been featured in past Teatro ZinZanni Chicago productions and are thrilled to bring their stunning duo trapeze skills to Seattle.
• Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, hair hang artist Danila Bim is a multidisciplinary artist and world-class acrobat who has created and performed her original acts for Cirque du Soleil, Palazzo, Ringling Bros, and most recently, Teatro ZinZanni Chicago.
• Rope artist and Seattle native Ezra Weill began his circus arts career as a student at SANCA. After extensive training and performing around the world, he returns home to showcase his acrobatic and comedic strengths.
• World champion juggler Spencer Androli returns to Seattle after performing at Moisture Festival earlier this year. In 2023, Spencer was voted first place by his peers in the annual list of the Top 40 jugglers in the country. 
• Award-winning aerial pole artist Charlee Shae has been wowing audiences with her sensuous act in multiple productions. Charlee will be introducing the art of aerial pole to Teatro ZinZanni with a new act developed with the show’s director, Elena Gatilova.

Under the leadership of Teatro ZinZanni’s Music Director, the multi-instrumentalist, and Earshot Jazz Hall of Fame inductee Hans Teuber, this season’s Teatro ZinZanni band provides live music throughout the performance. With deep roots in the Seattle and Pacific Northwest music scenes, the band includes guitarist Brian Monroney, bassist Keith Lowe, and drummer Eric Eagle. A new addition to the Teatro ZinZanni band is violinist, violist, and composer Alex Guy. She is the leader and principal songwriter for Led To Sea, a chamber-pop trio that fuses classical, pop, and experimental music.  

Teatro ZinZanni SIZZLE! opens November 29 and runs through March 2025. All tickets include a multi-course meal and a show featuring cirque, comedy, and cabaret showcased in a transformative yet intimate setting. Tickets start at $114 per person and are available in the following categories: General Admission – communal tables; Premium Seating – assigned tables of two or four; Center Stage – tables of four directly facing all the action; and Stage Side – tables of two bordering the stage. Discounted group rates are available for parties of 10 or more.
