Queertopia Music and Arts Festival Takes Over Volunteer Park On July 26

July 21, 2025• byMichael Strangeways

The Social Queer event producing group is hoping their upcoming new queer music festival becomes an annual event. QUEERTOPIA will take over the stage at Seattle’s Volunteer Park on Saturday, July 26th for the first time with a big line-up of live local queer talent. Their mission statement:

Purpose: We are proud to bring together a wide range of queer community initiatives and talented queer musicians to launch our first annual festival. Building on The Social Queer’s mission of fostering lifelong friendships, we aim to create an event that not only introduces you to Seattle-based queer artists – many of whom perform throughout the year – but also offers a welcoming entry point into other community groups beyond The SQ.

But, Queertopia aims to be more than just a place to listen to live entertainment. They’ll be opportunities for festival goers to dance and they’ll be games, crafts, a clothing swap, and much more. It’s a kid and pet friendly event but i’m not sure about food vendors, so maybe bring your own snacks and drinks. Kids are free but this is a ticketed event and it’s currently $65. (Note: Early Bird Ticket pricing sold out weeks ago). Tickets available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/queertopia-tickets-1339091010259

Also note: this event is open to all LGBTQ+ folk but it’s an event that is definitely more on the FEMME side of the spectrum rather than the Masculine. It’s produced and curated by women with female queer performers and all the programming reflects that. (This is my way of saying that if you’re a “bro gay” looking for a bro gay guy type of party, this probably isn’t the event for you! Which is fine…there are plenty of venues offering up that kind of gay male kind of atmosphere…most of them in fact….)

He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
