Fashion Designers, Models, and Adelicous. Oh my! ID1 Clothing is hosting a relaunch fashion show party Saturday night at The Lobby Bar. This week, I sat down with the curator of ID1 Clothing to gain insight into what this re-launch means to him and what he would like to see this new branding of multiple artists of clothing and accessories – not just himself.
B.Michael Peterson: Who is Jayson Potter and what is your philosophy on life?Jayson Potter: I’ve been in Seattle since 1999, drawn to the Art Institute. So I dropped out after the first quarter and decided to go to the School of Hard Knocks and volunteer, a lot. Now I’m a Front End Developer at POP and get out my design kicks with clothing. My philosophy on life would be to follow your dreams and make them reality. It’s a lot easier than wondering what you may become.
BMP: ID1 Clothing has been around for some time now. What is different with this new website and why the re-launch?
JP: ID1 Clothing is my first venture grown up. It started in 2008 with me designing screen printed interactive or dynamic art on T’s. I sold them on the Internet and our local Retail Therapy. Come 2011 the business leveled up enough to become ID1 Clothing. It’s latest ability is about finding people in Seattle who are passionate about what they do and love doing it. It’s a platform that gives these curated mavens an opportunity to share that talent with the world through the Internet and off the runway. The website has been completely rebuilt from the ground up by me and designed for a most pleasing experience.BMP: What is to be expected at the “Maven’s Fashion Show”? Who is designing and who is modeling?JP: The designers include Jordan Christianson, Julia Evanovich, Stefvin Caswell, Jamie Ullman, Sandy Purtlebaugh, Danial Hellman and myself. Our talent varies from screen print design to hand tailored goods for men and women. What you can expect to see from these glorious mavens is a vast range of skill from casual to sophisticated. The models are a group of very amazing individuals whom I’ve had opportunities to discover their beauty throughout the years. While the models are not flaunting their goods they are fighting fires, acting, slingin coffee, teaching folks job skills, the works. The incredibly beautiful line-up includes Breauna Reese, Monica Wulzen, Michelle Yard, Rocky Flowers, Peter Farrar and Cassidy Katims.
BMP: What is your favorite movie: TOP GUN or Dirty Dancing?
JP: Top Gun! Nuff said.
This grand opening will be hosted by the striking and stunning Ade at The Lobby Bar.The show will be showcasing fashion and accessories Jordan Christianson, Julia Evanovich, Stefvin Caswell, Jamie Ullma, Sandy Purtlebaugh, Danial Hellman and Jayson Potter. It is not a complete fashion show unless there is a threshold of models and photographers at the scene. During the show you will see the runway talents of Breauna, Peter Farrar, Rocky Flowers, Cassidy Katims, Monica Wulzen, and Michelle Yard. The only thing missing is there will be a live videographer, and that’s our talented Alex Berry, will be on the red carpet to take in the glory, glitz and glam of this fashion show. Maven’s style.
My style is eclectic. My works are about their sources. I want the garments to have their own story and come from my community. I strive to use recycled garments to create them into something new, or remind us of something in the past. I limit my use of new fabrics, but when I buy new fabric I buy from local vendors.
-Julia Evanovich
The fun is not going to stop there with the designers, models and the fantastical host. There will be live entertainment with PotatoFinger and Three Ninjas & tangentbot. The doors open at 8pm, Fashion at 9pm. 21+ and there is never a cover at The Lobby Bar.
