New (Maybe Must See) Gay TV Headed To NBC

May 11, 2012• byDC Williams

So as you all know I engaged in some internet rumor mongering about NBC and how it might be cancelling it’s only good shows on the site yesterday (You can read all about it here).  Yes, I overreacted but hey that’s what the internets are for.

So in better news for the venerable Peacock the LA Times is reporting that NBC has picked up “The New Normal,” a new series by Ryan Murphy (of “Glee” and “Nip/Tuck” fame) about a gay couple having a baby via a surrogate.  If NBC can make this show a hit they may be back on their way to being “Must See TV” and I might have less apoplectic fits about their line-ups.  Fingers crossed that Murphy can work his magic and make this series funny, engaging and maybe a little subversive (like the first season of “Glee” and most of “Nip/Tuck”) and that NBC doesn’t fuck it up.
