Under the direction of renowned Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite, Kidd Pivot is the critically acclaimed performance group known for integrating movement, original music, text, and rich visual design that culminates in work that is sharp, irreverent, and risky. “Revisor,” which is presented in partnership with On the Boards, is part of STG’s 2022/23 Performing Arts Season.
Tickets start at $25 (not including fees) and are on sale now at www.stgpresents.org, or in person at the Paramount Theatre box office at 911 Pine Street in Downtown Seattle.
In “Revisor,” playwright Jonathan Young and Crystal Pite revise an archetypal comic plot to serve as the basis for choreography in a true hybrid of contemporary theatre and dance. Eight Kidd Pivot dancers embody the recorded dialogue of some of Canada’s finest actors, exploring conflict, comedy, and corruption in the potent relationship between language and the body. Young and Pite are the creators of the internationally acclaimed Betroffenheit (winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production).
Kidd Pivot’s distinct choreographic language—a breadth of movement fusing classical elements and the complexity and freedom of structured improvisation—is marked by a strong theatrical sensibility and a keen sense of wit and invention.
