Halloween was VERY exciting for fans of the glam pop band SCISSOR SISTERS, the ultra fun LGBTQ band with multiple hits like “Filthy/Gorgeous”, “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing” and the campy “Let’s Have a Kiki”. The band, fronted by hottie Jake Shears who went to high school in Seattle, formed in 2000 and became successful in 2005 with the release of their first album, “Scissor Sisters” which was the Number 1 album in the UK.
And, Thursday’s annoucement was UK-centric with the news that Shears, Babydaddy (multiple instruments; composer), and Del Marquis (guitar and bass) would reunite for a UK and Ireland tour in May of 2025 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album.
Exciting news, for the first time in over a decade, we will come together again, live next May across the UK and Ireland. And for the first time ever, our debut album Scissor Sisters will be performed in full in celebration of its 20th anniversary – alongside all the other Scissor hits from along the way. You’ll want to sign up for the exclusive pre-sale via https://tix.to/SS25SignUp – which then commences at 10am Wednesday 6th November. General sale starts at 10am Friday 8th November. See you very soon. Jake, Babydaddy, Del
Fans of the band were excited at the news, especially in the UK and Ireland where the band was hugely popular during the length of their original time together through 2012 where they filled large arenas and scored multiple chart topping hits and won awards. While very popular in the US with LGBTQ fans, they never achieved the same level of success here though they frequently did tours, those were in theaters and large clubs. Still, there are many US fans hoping that the Sisters will add US and Canadian dates to this new tour. And….
That appears to be something that will happen.
No, nothing has been announced officially but the scuttlebutt poo is the band will do shows this summer in the US…though not in arenas, obviously. You should expect to see them at festivals like summertime LGBTQ Pride events.
Wink, wink.
For some fans though, they’re VERY upset that sidekick/back up singer/only female in the group ANA MATRONIC will NOT be a part of this reunion tour…they quickly picked up on the fact her name wasn’t listed in the announcement and cried, “where’s Ana?!?!???!!!”
The Scissor Sisters tersely responded with “scheduling just didn’t work out for her to be part of this tour” and then Ana herself announced on her social media, a slightly fuller (but equally terse) reason for not being included…she’s just tooooooo busy with other stuff.
Which all seems a bit….sus, to use a phrase you kids use. Poo from back in the day (2012) was that Ana and the other Sisters weren’t getting along. Now, whether that was an issue because of her, or the boys, (or both)…we don’t know. Regardless of the reason, it’s too bad she’s not a part of this new tour.
Meanwhile, we’re just happy that Jake and the boys are back to touring. And, hopefully a US tour will be announced soon.
