Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade
July 27, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Soooooooo…..this is basically Seattle’s Straight Pride Parade, though to be fair, it’s really more of a Chamber of Commerce/Rotary Club kind of thing to promote the wonderfullness of Seattle.
It’s not really gay at all. In fact, this parade runs in the exact opposite direction from Seattle Pride Parade…Torchlight starts at Seattle Center and heads SOUTH down 4th Avenue.
Weird….you’ve been warned!!!
Note: this means that the horror of the Blue Angels happens NEXT week with all the big boat races on Lake Washington happening NEXT weekend.
Time to go out of town!!!
Since 1950, tens of thousands of spectators have gathered on a warm July night to watch as parade units march, float and dance in celebration of Seattle. In its 70th year, the parade continues to highlight and celebrate traditions in Greater Seattle’s diverse cultural landscape as well as start new traditions, welcoming those new to the Seattle area. The 2019 Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade will feature entries both old and new and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser on this momentous year.
This event is free and open to the public, with reserved seating available for purchase. For 2019, we are thrilled that Mr. Tod Leiweke, CEO and Team president for Seattle’s new NHL hockey team, will be leading our Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade!
