Anti-Zionist Queer Pride Havdallah
June 29, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
JVP is looking forward to hosting an anti-zionist queer Pride Havdalah on Saturday, June 29th. This sweet pride gathering is a tradition started by the Radical Shabbat Collective several years ago.
We will be discussing pinkwashing, honoring queer Jewish ancestors, building a collective altar, and sharing in havdalah ritual. We are re-imagining queer Jewish space beyond just rainbows, beyond “inclusion”, and toward resistance and solidarity.
We are so excited to be led in ritual by the one and only Nomy Lamm. Nomy will be debuting new Havdalah ritual and song she created in collaboration with Jonah Daniel of narrow bridge candles.
When: Saturday, June 29th, 7-9pm
Where: Volunteer Park– exact location following RSVP
Bring: Snacks, blanket, bug spray, layers, and an object for the altar representing an ancestor you want to bring into our ritual space. This ancestor might be known to you, a presence you can feel or trust, an ancestor of the more than human world like a plant or animal, or something else. Any ancestral presence you consider loving and supportive of you is great.
For more details and accessibility please RSVP here to allow us to plan for food, space, and ritual.
Feel free to email beckgross2@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
Hope to see you there
