Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges
August 28, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm
For our next community meeting, we will hear from four local community members who attended this summer the 22nd International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2018) in Amsterdam and the Annual Meeting of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, the largest HIV clinical trials group in the world, whose mission is to cure HIV and reduce the burden of disease due to HIV and its complications.
Much has changed since the global HIV community convened at the previous International AIDS Conference in Durban in 2016.
Advances in science have been significant, but while there have been success stories, prevention efforts continue to lag and new HIV infections are still on the rise among key populations that continue to experience high levels of structural violence and stigma.
The HIV response is operating in a fragile environment of questionable political commitment and leadership and declining financial resources.
Despite these challenges, many consider this to be an historic summer in the global AIDS response.
Come join us to find out why!
Our meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 28th at 5:30 PM in the ACTU Large Conference Room on the 2nd Floor of the West Clinic at Harborview.
As always, we will provide dinner for you.
We can also cover your parking at the HMC garage. Just bring your parking ticket with you and we’ll give you a sticker or a pass that covers your time at the meeting.
We also have bus tickets available to see you safely home.
You can easily RSVP for this meeting by replying on this event page (your RSVP help us gauge food and seating needs).
