One of the best and most wicked ensembles of all time! Mary Haines (Norma Shearer) can’t believe her husband’s having an affair with salesgirl Crystal (Joan Crawford). But when Sylvia (Rosalind Russell) and Edith (Phyllis Povah) deliver the gossip firsthand, Mary heads to Reno for a divorce. En route, she meets Countess de Lave (Mary Boland) and Miriam (Paulette Goddard), who coincidentally is having an affair with Sylvia’s husband. Wild zingers, incredible hats, and amazing outfits follow!

“Directing ensemble scenes with upwards of half a dozen divas is no easy feat – leave it to Cukor to corral this kind of star power into a two-hour-plus film that never takes a break to powder its nose.” – Caroline Golum, Little White Lies
“It’s exhilaratingly funny.” – Peter Bradshaw, Guardian
“Feel blessed that we have a movie in which Rosalind Russell bites the back of another woman’s knee in a fight.” – Kristen Yoonsoo Kim, Letterboxd
