OutRising Seattle: An Evening for Global Lgbtiq Equality
February 6, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
2020 marks OutRight’s 30th anniversary! Please join us in Seattle on Thursday, February 6 to celebrate 30 years of fighting for LGBTIQ human rights and equality everywhere.
After a sold-out event last year, we are moving to a new and larger location at Sodo Park, a warm and beautiful event space in the SoDo neighborhood (with lots of free street parking!). We are looking forward to a fabulous evening with delicious drinks and appetizers and 300+ OutRight fans and new friends!
Our Executive Director Jessica Stern will share the latest news from the United Nations and recent global trips, and we are thrilled and honored to welcome OutRight’s Board member Rikki Nathanson as our keynote speaker. Rikki is a recognized and accomplished trans activist and leader from Zimbabwe, who founded Trans* Research, Education, Advocacy and Training and serves on several Boards of respected LGBTIQ organizations. Rikki was granted asylum here in the U.S. and recently won a landmark civil lawsuit against the government of Zimbabwe for discrimination and harassment, after she was arrested and suffered physical abuse for being transgender. We are so fortunate to host Rikki in Seattle to share her story and her work with trans and gender diverse communities around the world.
We’re also excited to welcome back beloved emcee and auctioneer Laura Michalek and our guest auction reader Michele Storms, the Executive Director of ACLU of Washington. Select live auction items include private dinner parties and getaways to local and warm destinations. You’ll also have the chance to raise your paddle to support OutRight’s work for safety, freedom, equality and dignity for LGBTIQ people everywhere.
You can buy tickets and learn more about becoming a sponsor, reserving a table or joining our host committee at www.outrightinternational.org/OutRisingSeattle or by contacting Katie Hultquist at khultquist@outrightinternational.org.
