Please note that due to CDC and Washington State guidelines, we must limit attendance to those who are fully vaccinated and 50% of the venue’s capacity. We know you have lots of questions, so please read through the event details and FAQ section below.
While our regular programming has yet to return to The Cuff, we have an opportunity to gather in a 2600 sq ft space with wood floors at our regular time on Friday, June 18th (Some of you will remember line dancing in the basement at All Pilgrims a few years ago. This is the same location but upstairs in the large hall). Since we cannot properly social-distance during partner dancing, this will be a vaccinated-only event.
And to show our appreciation to our faithful RCDA members, we are limiting this to members only (plus one guest). Have you been meaning to become a member, or has your membership expired? We will be accepting new members at the door on a first-come, first-served basis (details below).
Renew your membership here: http://raincountrydance.org/membership.asp
We are planning on our regular Friday-night format, with a mix of mostly 2-Step, Waltz, West Coast, and Line Dance. Outside food and drink will be allowed, and we plan to have some beverages for sale at the event.
We hope you can join us!
More information:
Why is this event only for fully-vaccinated participants?
Following CDC guidelines, this is the only way that we can ensure a partner dance event remains safe. Fully vaccinated means it has been at least two weeks after your second dose for the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after your one dose for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Visit the CDC website for more info.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring a copy of your vaccine card and a matching government-issued photo ID. If you would like to bring a picture on your phone, that is also acceptable. However, we must be able to read all of the information on the card, including name/birthdate (to match to your ID), date of the vaccine (to ensure two weeks have passed since your final dose), and the type of vaccine you received (which will have different booster shot interval requirements). Our intent is to capture only your name and final vaccine date/type so that you do not have to provide this at future RCDA events (until, of course, a booster shot is required). If you prefer that we don’t retain your name and vaccine dates, then you may opt to continue bringing it with you to future events.
Can I still wear my mask?
Absolutely! Anyone who wishes to wear a mask may do so. However, you must still be vaccinated (see above). We know that some folks still are still taking extra precautions (especially if they work or live with others who are more vulnerable). Even if you plan to dance unmasked, please bring a mask regardless. This way, if you wish to approach someone else wearing a mask, you can do so respectfully by donning your own mask too.
What if I’m not a member, or my membership has expired?
We especially want to show appreciation for our faithful members who have continued to renew over the past year. Your ongoing support continues to be appreciated! And of course, we are always happy to welcome new members! If you are not yet a member, or your membership has expired, you can sign-up (or renew): http://raincountrydance.org/membership.asp (you can either use your credit card via PayPal, or follow instructions to send a check).
What is the schedule for this Friday evening dance at All Pilgrims?
We are planning to follow our typical Friday-night format. We will have music starting at 7 p.m. so that you can “warm-up”, with a lesson (or two) starting at 7:15 p.m. Open dancing will begin at 8 p.m., and go until 11 p.m. (one hour later than typical at The Cuff). Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. to get “signed in” (verify vaccination status and receive a wristband). We are still finalizing the schedule for lesson(s)/instructor(s), so stay tuned. We have the option to dance until midnight, so if there is enough demand, perhaps you may see a late-night line dance explosion!
Sounds great! How do I get there, and is parking available?
Parking in this area is just about the same as anywhere on Capitol Hill – little to none! All Pilgrims Church is located three blocks north of the Cap Hill light rail station (with service until at least sometime after midnight on Fridays), and is conveniently located near several bus lines. So we highly-encourage you to consider mass-transit (don’t forget that masks are still required on all public transport).
When will we resume dancing at The Cuff?
We have arranged with the Cuff to resume Friday night dancing starting on July 16! Our revised dance hours will be 7:00–9:45 p.m., with free dance lessons still at 7:15 p.m. In the meantime, we will be holding Line Dancing at All Pilgrims every Tuesday (7:00–9:00 p.m.) and we expect to do one or more additional Friday nights at All Pilgrims before July 16 (watch the website and social media for the exact dates and details). Lesson details for Tuesdays and Fridays will be available online, too.
