THE CAT AND THE CANARY (1927) was director Paul Leni’s first movie after arriving in America from Germany. Laced with just the right amount of humor, this picture established the haunted house horror-comedy genre. Its bold visual style and mobile camera gliding through atmospheric sets makes you feel that you are one of the characters moving through the film’s haunted house. Musical accompaniment by Christian Elliott on the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ.

Running time: 80 minutes.
