We need some new meat around here…Bill W. and Les and I are working our fingers to the bone, and frankly, we need some new voices around here…and eyes…body parts in general.
What we’re looking for: TALENTED writers. Hopefully you’re already blogging or have blogged consistently or recently. Hopefully you know how to structure a sentence and spell, or at least use Spell Check type tools. Hopefully you have a STYLE. Hopefully you are a self starter who doesn’t need to be constantly prodded or given assignments. Hopefully you’re not a flakey cake. Hopefully you’re LGBTQ or at least a HUGE ally. Hopefully you’re not just looking to get free tickets to stuff.
We could beef up most areas…especially MUSIC and FOOD but we’re open to suggestions. What do YOU like to write about? Is it something OTHER people can relate to or would be interested in?
Also: Want some photographers. Folks dying to bop around and take photos of EVERYTHING and ANYTHING of interest.
And, always in the market for cartoonists or video.
Is there any money in this?
No. Not right now. Yeah, that sucks. (We’d like a big fat check, too!) We’re getting closer to that happening and at least we’re at a point where we can buy our contributors an occasional drink or dinner but if you’re looking for big dough, or any dough, right off the bat then don’t bother. (Also, don’t bother with the whiny ass “BUT, artists SHOULD be paid!” emails. We totally agree. But, most “artists” aren’t paid, or aren’t paid much…if you want to be creative and have an audience then you’re probably NOT going to get paid much of anything for quite awhile. Harsh, but it’s true. We have a monthly audience of 60,000. It’s a start.)
Any who, if interested, shoot me an email with a brief bio of WHO you are and what you like to write about, with samples of your writing. Please do not send me your resume or traditional cover letters. A simple chatty, “I’m Bruce Doe and I wanna write for YOU!” with a bio and samples is sufficient. AND, pass this along to any writerly/arty friends.
Questions? Ideas? Holla at me!
