There’s going to be some happy bears in Seattle today…Diesel Seattle, the latest edition to our growing nightlife scene, has announced they are ready to start catering to the furrishly inclined community and their admirers starting Friday, September 2. The bar, located at 1413 14th Avenue behind Chop Suey and across the street from the Chloe Building and Skillet, has been the home to numerous LGBTQ venues over the years including The Sea Wolf and Martin’s Off Madison and has stood empty for over a year since the brief occupation by the last occupant, the oddly named “Greg’s Profanity Hill”.
Capitol Hill Seattle got the skinny on the new venue earlier this summer and spoke with co-owner Mike Reis:
“It’s going to be a really fun place where everybody can feel comfortable at,” co-ownerMike Reis tells CHS about a new project underway about to fill in the former Martin’s off Madison space on 14th Ave between Madison and Union. “We want a bear bar that is open to everybody,” Reis said.
Reis tells CHS that the project is something he and his partners have been working on for years as bear culture has gained acceptance and prominence. “We were guys that typically didn’t fit it,” Reis said.
“We were just guys that happened to be gay. We’re no strangers to beer and pizza. Look at us!”
The beer and pizza loving owners of Diesel announced today on Facebook, the Grand Opening:
